科羅索酸來源於大花紫薇(俗稱巴拿巴,盛產于菲律賓群島)的提取物。體內外實驗結果表明,科羅索酸通過興奮葡萄糖的轉運,促進細胞對葡萄糖的吸收和利用,從而實現其降血糖功效。科羅索酸對葡萄糖轉運的興奮作用類似于胰島素,因此,科羅索酸也被稱為植物胰島素.

科羅索酸主要功效如下:
